Let me start by apologizing as am not really if this qualifies to posted on this sub reddit. Some little background info am a 21 year old commerce student in Africa wishing to specialize in accounting in due time. The thing is I have never wanted to do this course and I totally messed up taking it up. I have always wanted to do law since my high school days and it really is something am totally passionate about. So why did I apply for commerce? Good question it basically boils down to my Dad. He kind of steered me to take this course as he could connect me to a job once I graduate. I don't blame him as I totally understand his point of view. At this point I can blame no one but myself. So here is the situation am seeking advice on, after 3 semesters and paying nearly 2500$ in tuition I want to quit commerce to peruse a Law degree . Mind you this is a lot of money where am at. It will take a lot to convincing to convince my dad who is sponsoring my university education and in a worse case scenario I might even fail to convince him. That will eventually put me out of school a situation am looking to completely avoid. This are the facts in my 1st year at commerce I managed a 57% grade without putting much effort into it. This roughly translates to a pass. I have one semester left to complete the 2nd year. So am asking and seeking advice to these who have a much better experience, is it a wise idea for me to quit commerce at this stage of time to pursue what i feel I would be happy studying?
