I'm in a vocational school right now and the whole program is great up until the point they didn't realize the nearest testing center is a minumum two and half hours away and we have to take two tests and they have to be at least a day apart. This means two 5 hour trips. On top of that, my program waited to give us our testing vouchers 3 weeks before the test. So barely any spots were open.
I have a disability and was approved for accomodation. Pearson Vue has even less disability times. The proctors won't stay later for those with disabilities, so any tests towards closing time those with a disability can't access. On top of that, those with a disability can't schedule their own tests and force people with disabilities to call and make it.
I called to make mine and my scheduler scewed up, so I lost one of my times. She was heartless and not understanding even when I explained to her to be careful entering in everything and I don't have alot of time. I then thought I heard her call me slow and she blamed me for not being able to schedule correctly.
I tld my professor in class and our admin lady that I thought I heard call me slow and explained what happened. On top of that, one of my testing vouchers didn't work. My professor and the admin lady got a little excited and got too involved in the matter. The admin lady started telling other admins I had a disability and I said I didn't want her to let the world know I have a disability and I simply wanted her advice and a new voucher code. My professor was concerned I think but I think got too emotional bc he has the same disability as me.
I decided later on to just drop the case because me being called slow and losing my test time couldn't be fixed.
I called to cancel the case and let them know to not contact my instructor and let us relax.
Well they went behind my back and called the instructor and said she never called me slow and have no clue where I got that idea and then twisted it saying I used profanity. Which is a total lie on their part. And to cover their tracks they wouldn't play the recording between and the customer service associate. I feel a total breach of privacy them lettng out that information after I explicitly told them not to.
At the end of the day I talked with my professor and Lauren. We all agreed to just drop it and not bring it up again bc my professor was starting to think I did something wrong to instigate being called slow. I was like it's turning into a game of he/she said if they won't share the recording and honestly even if I was right in that she called a disabled person slow it won't fix my scheduling problem.
So thankfully my dad came through and was an alumni at a private trade school who gives tests a half hour away and that's where I will end up taking my test now.
I am hoping my professor and the admin lady were honest and this will be dropped. No need to drag this out any further. I'm guessing with their busy lives we will all just move on.
I'm wondering why my school just didn't become a licensed testing center? For 50 students per class it seems like it'd be worth it instead of causing people to miss 2 - 3 days of work and leave their families for a exam. At least we are paid to go to school under a grant.
