Looking to start university at the start of the new year after a long period of not studying. Any suggestions/tips to help prepare me?

Basically as the title explains, I've been working for about ten years and would like to change my career path by going back to school. studying to work in education (English teacher) is the dream. Any sort of advice is very welcome as it's been a very long time since I've had my nose to the proverbial grindstone.

Extra info ; live out of home am 26 and work full time in a labour intensive job
