For those of you who have studied abroad/advised exchanges for high school students, how have you/would you convince your family?

Hey guys!

Quick backstory;

Basically, teenager residing in Canada who is heavily interested in the idea of going for a semester abroad to Italy. I would plan to attend the exchange a year and a half (ish) from now, but most agencies require an admission a year in advance (by this fall.) Everyone else in my family is onboard for the most part with the idea except for my mother and convincing her seems impossible. I brought it up to her recently and she thinks that my GPA (3.5 Canadian, so B+) and attendance needs to improve as well as my responsibility in chores needs to improve before she would consider it. I have already begun to work on those things and am working extra hard in the direction of trying to improve.

I’m unwilling to give up on this dream unless absolutely necessary and am willing to do pretty much anything I can to convince her to even think about it. What are some things I can do to show her that I would deserve to go on an exchange? What are some of your tips?
