Is taking notes directly from books effective at memorizing information?

I asked a similar question on here about if typing notes would be just as helpful as writing them down while watching videos and also asked if typing notes and writing them down later to streamline the process would be just as good and they said no. Would that mean taking notes straight from books be ineffectual then when trying to memorize information?
