Hi there! I am a recent art education graduate who will be starting a career as a HS art teacher in the fall. I was hoping to get some opinions on joining a union. I honestly don’t know much about what the union does.
I am going to be signing my contract soon and I want to go in with some more knowledge. Why should I join a union? Is it worth the cost? What is the risk of not joining?
As any teacher knows, salaries are not always great especially as a first year in Ohio, so I’m just trying to understand what the money would be going towards and it’s purpose. Thanks in advance :)
