I'm a public teacher and I am thinking of sending my kids to a charter school.

Because I work in my district I can send my kid to schools near me. It's CA law.

I don't want to send my kids to my resident schools because of how low performing they are.

Every year I have to re-apply to get my kids into their specific school. Inter-district transfers are 3rd priority so I have to wait on pins and needles hoping my kids get in.

I'd rather rest easy knowing my kids go to a good school regardless of it's structure.

I feel like a hypocrite. When it comes to my kids I'm 'NIMBY', but as a personal teaching philosophy public schools are the best shot at an educated populace.
