I don't say this to brag, but rather to put things in perspective a little bit...first off, the high school I go to is a VERY good school, nominated like #10 in the nation or something. All teachers have a lot of experience in their fields, and the classes tended to be rigorous. However, I still feel like no matter what school you go to, there is never a good amount of application of those ideas to the real world. Sorry if this isn't making sense so far-english is my least favorite class and it's 4:00 in the morning. I'm more of a math and science guy anyhow- I love how complex it can get and how it can all be used to better understand, appreciate, and improve the world we live in today. The things we learn in school are just the seeds, and that's not what we need in life. We need huge, beautiful f*cking flowers so they can make their own seeds. Teachers and textbooks teach us about formulas and whatnot, but they seldom teach us how we can apply those ideas to our daily lives, or how people made money off of them, or how they can be used to solve real world problems. This angers me.. real world application of the things we learn in school is absolutely beautiful and would be so benefitial to the upcoming generations, but there simply isn't enough of it. Thoughts?
