educational data/stats: % of graduating in stem - why is there a disparity between 25% 30% or 45%? sources included

% of stem grads

2016

  • 20%
  • 15% in 2010

source http://www.economicmodeling.com/2017/09/01/stem-majors-accelerating-every-state-just-humanities-degrees-declining/

data source: nces.ed.gov

2015

  • 36%
  • 35% in 2003

from some report? https://www.usnews.com/news/education-news/articles/2017-11-29/report-stem-degrees-rise-but-disparities-remain

question: why exactly is there a difference?

2015 acs survey

  • 50-40% with stem majors

  • 60-50% with humananites, others

source https://www.quora.com/What-percentage-of-US-undergraduate-degrees-are-in-the-humanities-compared-to-STEM

question: is this about current holders of stem? or % of stem grads in that year? (i cant tell..)

i think this is about current holders of stem, not % of stem grads in that year,

  • because it doesnt make sense for current holders of stem to be historically more than currently

other related things

stem % by states

  • this doesnt really tell much
  • better places overall are going to have more % stem basically

% that do not end up in stem jobs?

uni with the highest % of girl stem grads

% stem grads in universe

unanswered https://www.quora.com/unanswered/How-many-graduates-in-STEM-fields-are-in-the-world

note: most surprising thing i learned was that finding out such basic info was actually hard....
