General questions for veterinarians

I'm a 21 year old male currently working as an electrician apprentice, but i've started feeling like i chose the wrong path. I know i want to work with animals, but i dont know exactly which path i want to choose.

I've started looking at the veterinarian education, and had some general questions: Do i have to perform surgeries? Is it hard to get a job within your preference? Are there any physical requirements? I've heard i must be ready for a lot of overtime, but approx how much?
