Reflecting on Governor Cuomo's comments

So Cuomo recently questioned what role the traditional classroom has in the digital age. Everyone know those aren't going anywhere. However, I do think there's some scenarios where the remote learning process could make a lot of sense:

- Elimination of snow days/delayed openings. Students could log in to their remote learning modules and complete uploaded work. Teachers already submit lesson plans and would most likely have something prepared. Schools could be more inclined to close due to bad weather without fear of extending the school year.

- Credit recovery/summer school. Students who need this service could still work, and complete the work as their leisure.

- GED programs. Adults looking to attain a GED could do so through a remote process to better accommodate their work schedules.

- sick days. If a student is home sick, they log on to their portal and complete the work.

-Professional development. School districts can save money by not paying for airlines tickets and hotels to send teachers and administrators to conferences where all they do is watch presentations. These can be done remotely, when applicable.

-Parent teacher conferences. Parents can zoom/google hangout or what have you instead of having to come in and meet face to face, if they are not able to.

Of course, all of this is contingent on the parties having internet and capable devices. But I can see some of this stuff working. Thoughts?
