I periodically hear people saying (something along the lines) that recent pedagogy proves that homework is not an effective learning tool, as shown by the experience in several countries (I think Finland is usually mentioned, but I don't remember).
Since it always strikes me as highly improbable, I'd like to document myself on the matter. (It might also well be that I misunderstand the basic claim.)
Can you recommend a good treatment of this issue, that discusses the available evidence in detail?
