Please do not repost this anywhere. I am currently a teacher in Massachusetts. 4 years ago I was arrested and fingerprinted. It is not a dangerous crime. In fact the prosecutors agreed it was all a misunderstanding and dismissed my case prior to arraignment, meaning it does not show up on my CORI. However it does show up on my fingerprints.
Right now my district is going through cuts and I am anticipating a pink slip. I am applying to jobs. I am going to disclose the arrest and say it was a misunderstanding and it is not on my CORI. But I am scared I still will not get hired based on the fingerprinting. Is there anyone out there who has been hired in similar circumstances? Would be great to hear from a Massachusetts teacher. I am really freaking out on being judged on something that was clearly a mistake since they dismissed it without an arraignment.
