I am continuing to gain some understanding of how much Pearson influences American education, particularity when it comes to curriculum and assessment.
As teachers start to understand the Common Core (by actually reading it) they might be slowly coming to a realization that specific textbooks are not required, and that the teacher can choose any literature that fits their lesson planning. So, in effect, that might mean that schools are not longer needing to purchase hundreds or thousands of the latest edition Pearson textbooks.
Yet, that still leaves the mandated tests. I have also begun to learn of Special Education diagnostic tests and bilingual education tests that Pearson also seems to have a lock on. What kind of alternatives to school districts have for these?
