Advice on making the best out of student teaching?

Hello all,

I'm in my first semester of student teaching (my program contains two semesters). I have about three weeks left of this semester. In January, I will start the next one.

I'm trying not to compare my semester to the semesters of my peers in neighboring classrooms, but it is hard. My teacher does not really seems to want to let me gain any teaching experience besides my evaluated lessons (only four this semester). Because, I am not getting any practice outside of these evaluated lessons, they are not going so well. I know this is her classroom and, thus, I do not want to step on anyone's toes. However, my classmates are teaching everyday and I can't help but feel a little envious.

Does anyone have any advice? The days feel really long when I'm not allowed to do anything except grade papers, make occasional copies, and observe teaching methods and student behavior in a corner.
