Need help. Best pathway to postgrad research

Currently, I am doing a degree in Psych Science at an Australian Uni. I previously did a Diploma at the same uni, and they have credited me for it. This means they have taken off one year of the degree, so I only need to do a two-year degree if I keep going where I am. Here is my problem, the Uni I'm at only offer postgrad studies in clinical psych, and I would much rather go into research. So my options are to continue at the same place, finish my degree and apply for postgrad in research elsewhere, or change uni's now to one that offers postgrads in research, do a 3-year undergrad degree, and apply for postgrad from within the uni.

Put simply, Is it worth doing an extra years study to increase my probability of been accepted into postgrad psych research? It would be appreciated if somebody who knows the educational system better than me could explain whether it's worth changing now, or not worrying and just applying after undergrad.
