What would you do differently if you could design a school from the ground up?

Hello r/education!

I have been brought on to coordinate the design of a new high school for students who are off-track from reaching graduation. I am in charge of gathering as much evidence as possible (anecdotal and quantitative) to help the design team determine how the school should be designed. We are relying heavily on student and other stakeholder input in our design process.

I am interested in hearing from anybody with ideas about how to make school better for those who struggle in traditional settings. Please include your background or occupation in your response. If you have links to articles or other resources, please include those as well.

Thank you for your help!
