When applying to an university that has a strong political reputation, is it a good idea to mention their ideals in your motivational letter as reason to wish to study there?

For example, one wants to apply to Roskilde University, which has a strong left culture and is often described as "bunch of hippies" even in Denmark.

One is transgender.

Would saying that one of the reasons you wish to study at said university is for their provision of equal and unmolested opportunity to study and work within their facilities? (As in - despite not passing well, one doesn't have to stay in closet when attending lectures.)
