demo lesson 2nd grade advice

I have a 2nd grade demo approaching and have had the hardest time thinking of what to do. I am unsure where the students are at in the year, but it's a general ed classroom.

I was thinking of teaching the very basics of arrays because it can be so hands on (something the school loves.) My only concern is if it is too difficult for 2nd graders at this point in the year? My lesson was going to go with me teaching what an array is, practicing them as a whole and then breaking off into partners to do a real world example (baking) using muffin trays where students will get a card and have to create the array given using pompoms and the muffin tray. Then, they will create and write their own and we will come together as a class to share.

Is this going to be too much? Any other ideas would be welcomed. I just want something that will be a solid stand-alone lesson I can make hands on.
