Rugby at School

So our school is located in a urban city in Sweden, and they recently added a enclosed football pitch at the back of it. I am a student at the school and it has been lot's of fun playing in it. One day we decided to play rugby on the pitch, and everything was fine. At the time were we all boys, and after a while a couple of girls joined in. A teacher walked by sometime later and saw a girl getting tackled with the ball. She was on the ground for like five seconds and got back up, looking fine, just a bit shaken up. After this the teacher stopped the rugby game and prevented us from playing on it because of safety issues. Would the teacher reacted differently if she saw a boy getting tackled? I understand that the teacher wants to keep us safe, but it seems kind of coincidental... Either way the football pitch is now split up into classes with certain times :(
