Is the apocryphal strong immune system of the career educator a real thing?

Every career teacher to whom I have spoken on the topic agrees that after exposure to illnesses for the first 5-10 years in the job, their immune systems seem to work better-than-most. This is ostensibly due to catching every cold etc (contagion) that was going around in the start of their career and achieving some immunity to related illnesses.

Has there been any research measuring this to see if it's actually true or is it just confirmation bias?

If it is real, how long does this protective immunity extend beyond retirement?
