Math teachers, please stop using acronyms to teach the order of operations. It is and has created a horrible mess of people who have no clue what they are talking about because they just memorized words and have no idea why. WHY are you still using a 6-letter mnemonic to teach FOUR basic things?

If one more adult person tells me "but you multiply before you divide" and then argues with me when I try to teach them that they are inverse operations, I may have to quit. It's infuriating. It's not your fault that people are stubborn. I do, however, fault teachers for using horrible acronyms instead of teaching the math itself. If you understand the operations and how they relate to one another, the order naturally flows from that.

Bottom line - Nobody should need a 6-letter memory device to know 4 things in order. WHY are you still teaching with PEMDAS, BODMAS, etc?
