Communications Roles and How to Find Them?

I’m about to turn the page on my 3rd year of teaching. Naturally, its had its ups and downs, but I’m seriously considering a move out of the classroom and into the central office.

I’ve spent the last few months mapping out moves to design a path towards becoming a Communications Director for a district. Does anyone have any pointers? It’s rather specialized, as each district only has 1 (to my knowledge), but I want to search for jobs to lead me there. After speaking with my own district’s director, I’ve been diligently searching for “Communications Specialist” jobs but it’s like looking for a needle in a haystack. Am I in the wrong season, using the wrong tools, or is this just a part of the package with moving to such a role?
