I live in the US. I'm a highschool junior (11th grade). With the lockdown, I have access to my computer and phone. With these technological devices I want to progress in starting education and schooling reform that aligns with the needs of the system's participants (students, teachers, etc.) and for the needs of society.
But it seems hard. I suppose that i have to make some sort of online organization through a social media or chat server platform. After the organization is established (by fiddling with the technology and settings)... I'm very lost.
Guesses on what to do next:
- Establish rules and conduct to create an efficient organization.
- Invite people. Students, teachers, school admins and other staff are welcome even if they have views I disagree with. If I could manage to get some education scholars invited that would be nice.
- Research the best policy changes that make the most effect on the education system. I read about Systems Thinking which seems super useful to solve social issues.
- Convince people to advocate and act on the policy change. Call Congress, protest, petition, more media ads, etc.
This is barely an outline and I don't really have much guidance on where to start. Since this is r/education it seems like at least some people have a clue on what to do and where to move forwards. If you can give that advice that's nice. Thanks.
