Whenever someone in the past asked me why I wanted to teach, I never had a solid answer. After 4 years of experience I finally realized why. You can learn so much from them and the world should really start to listen to them. I also learned that they helped me become a kinder person towards all and see the world in a different way. In one week, they have shown me what kindness means and how to really just take each moment in. We discussed what is going on with the world today and how people aren’t really treated fairly. Their response? They just kept saying it makes them super sad and how we all should just be nice to each other. Another thing was that one kiddo said how he doesn’t care what color skin someone has as long as they are nice towards him and they get along, then he’s fine with that. Another instance was a kid was upset because his brand new water had scratch marks on it from it dropping. I was talking to him trying to calm him down and out of no where another student came over and just hugged him. She said how she was sorry about that and how she hopes that helps him. Those two were in kindergarten. Kids spend a lot of time in school and if teachers/schools start allowing us to ask these hard questions and talk about these hard things, we can raise a better generation that can help heal our world. In all my years experience, I already know the kids I talked to will be leading with love and kindness.
