Up to 30 scholarships are available for applicants who are ordinarily resident in the United Kingdom, who are of Black or Mixed-Black ethnicity and who hold an offer for either a taught or research postgraduate degree, starting in the 2022-23 academic year academic year. This includes all full-time and part-time DPhil and master’s courses.
To apply for the Black Academic Futures Scholarship, all you have to do is submit your completed graduate course application, including ethnicity information, by either the December or January deadline (whichever is relevant for your course) and you will automatically be considered. You do not need to submit any additional documents and there is no separate scholarship application form for these awards.
If you are eligible for these scholarships, you will be considered automatically regardless of which college (if any) you state as your preference on your graduate application form.
As probably many of you are aware, racism is bad in any shape and form. Personally I come from mostly white country, or as people like to say ''conservative and ethnically hermetic country''. Since I was a kid I've been taught by my mom about how racism is stupid, how we all should treat people equally and with respect regardless of their beliefs, ethnicity or sexual identity. Not to mention that third of my nation was eradicated by nazis during second world war which gave me a good idea of how stupid racism and segregation are.
First I would like to ask you all to question what is a racism and what is a racial segregation? What would've happen if we take a bunch of 'white folks' and say to them that they can apply for a scholarship BUT only if they are of white or mixed white ethnicity. Can you imagine the outlash in media that would cause?
Why segregating people for black / mixed black ethnicity is acceptable only because they will financially benefit from it? Why call it Black Academic Futures? What about the rest of the ethic groups i.e. the Uyghurs that are being killed in Chinese holocaust at the very moment?
Why do we need to separate black students from asian asians can be black too. Why do we need to separate black ethnicity from all the other ones? Is it because of slavery? Do we need to make it up to black folks because SOME of them have been put on a boat 200 years ago and then exploited by white people for decades?
Racism:
a belief that race is a fundamental determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race
Correct me if I am wrong, but what is going on lately it is a pure definition of racism. I personally don't believe that anyone would need to be given any scholarship to them based on their ethnicity. Personally I would feel offended that someone tries to treat me differently due to my ethnicity regardless if that would benefit or harm me. In this case what benefit one ethnic group will hurt the other, that may not even speak up about it. I would like to know your thoughts about it.
Please keep it polite, all my questions are actual question that go through my head.
Feel free to enlighten me.
