Public education is a shitty system in the U.S. As of the year 12014, only around 31% of U.S. adults attained a Bachelor's degree, and only 2% of the population held doctoral degrees. With the cost of tuition exponentially increasing in parallel with the size of public school administration as well as their salaries, it's clear that the public university system in the U.S. (or at least in California) has become a for-profit business.
I propose we counteract the poor performance of public education by teaching science as a religion. It is by and large the most effective method of spreading ideas, in part because religion fosters relationships between proximal and organizational communities, as well as generate tax-exempt revenue.
A wealthy religion could fund public education completely, and supplant the existing model by which we pass known information to the generation after us. We could correct all of the mistakes made by our current methods of imparting knowledge by teaching to mastery, and not to test. By teaching to think, and not just to simply remember.
And higher levels of mastery could more easily gauge the aptitude of an individual than a degree ever could. Specialized jobs could then search for a particular skill or way of thinking, and recruiting would be plug and play.
I think if we can offer more fine tuned students to the workforce, we can get the inside track against universities. Protests really aren't doing shit. What do you guys think?
