Hey guys, I just started to think about studying Liberal Arts and Sciences in Netherlands. By researching deeper to understand what this degree actually means, I realized how many guys say its useless and esoteric. Several people say its way too general to get ready for the world of work. Employers are searching for graduates who are specialized on a very specific subject they say.
But I think in times of digitalization, globalization and other several obstacles, where people prefer to stop using interdisciplinary methods such as thinking how you deal with big decisions as a powerful politician for example, it would not harm the world if there are some people outside who use philosophical ways and try to think big. I do not think the point of enlightenment was to live in your own built matrix instead of investing time on "intellectual discovery and personal development“
So what do you think about LAS? What do you say to the used arguments on those links? https://www.forbes.com/sites/willarddix/2016/11/16/a-liberal-arts-degree-is-more-important-than-ever/#6386716339f2 https://www.nytimes.com/2017/08/21/books/review/you-can-do-anything-george-anders-liberal-arts-education.html http://time.com/3964415/ceo-degree-liberal-arts/
I am sorry for my bad english btw :)
