A while back in the public high school of my old neighborhood (California state) there were 3 levels of math and English (regular, honors and AP). After around 6-7 years(present day), they had been canceled and now all students of all skill levels are in the same classes (believe math is common core and English I don’t know). My sibling goes to this school and she says some parents/teachers like this style over the old one.
I thought this was kind of strange and so was reading about some European (Germany mainly) style of education where students are split up into three tracks based on skill levels and are taught at different levels/difficulties.
Anyways I was wondering what do American teachers and educators think about splitting up kids into different skill levels and tracks? Also what do you think will happen with regards to this style of arrangement in America?
(Sorry for my English and if I sounded dumb- I don’t know much about policy and stuff)
