Is it really a good idea for a teacher to do a master's in education in general instead of the subject she teaches?

Since the time necessary for being fluent on the discipline that you teach would be used to study education in general (which you don't teach since it is mostly didatics and educational policies), in my view the teacher would get to her role not fully capacitated.
