Looking for social justice literature

Hey all,

I'm looking to revamp my high school English curriculum to include literature related to social justice topics in America. I'd like them to include first-hand accounts of human experience, preferably around civil rights and LGBTQ issues.

In the past I have taught Night, A Long Way Gone, Farenheit 451, and A Lesson Before Dying. While all of these tests encourage tough and important conversations, I'd like to increase the relevance of my classroom texts for today's world. All suggestions are appreciated!
