Poetry will be an optional topic in next year's English Literature GCSE in the UK.

Is this wise? I think poetry is an integral part of English literature. It not only builds vocabulary but it also helps students gain a greater understanding of the richness of language and literature. I think students who opt out of taking poetry will be missing out.
