Why isn’t driving a required/optional class in most schools?

This is a genuine question. My family is more on the low income side. My mom never learned how to drive and my dad was usually to busy working to teach me so I haven’t learned as well.Never learning to drive has been a difficult obstacle in life and it just amazes me that I didn’t learn in school its seems pretty essential to living day to day life. I know plenty of other kids that grew up in low income families that never learned either.just seems weird
