My wife is a teacher (20+ years) and this morning we were discussing the fact that the school board wants to set a standard of all seniors achieving a 21 on the ACT. We got to looking up what that means for the student population and where our scores fit into that dynamic. I graduated in 1989 and took the ACT in 1988, on the 32-point scale. When looking for comparisons with today's scores, I ran across a site at ed.gov that compared educational spending in 1989-1990 school year to 2017-2018 school year. The numbers are shocking. I wrote up an article about it: https://medium.com/ninjas-take/why-teachers-made-more-in-1989-d94194ec2566. The source material is at https://nces.ed.gov/programs/digest/d20/tables/dt20_201.10.asp?current=yes.
Let me know what your thoughts are,
