So I am an honor roll student. I attend class as I am supposed to, get good grades, and never have missing work. I was in a program for a month first tri and lost two credits. I was put into credit recovery and I am almost done with it. My school counselor decided it might be best if I had a study hall 5th period to study for my credit. But im almost done and now i dont use study hall for anything. I sit in there for an hour and 10 minutes doing nothing, 5 days out of the week. So for the past months I've been saying im going to another teachers class but then just go home. My study hall teacher has started getting suspicious.
I asked my AP if im allowed to leave 5th period. She said due to state law she is not allowed to take out my study hall, or excuse me from it. So I have to stay in an extra 5-6 hours every week.
It just doesnt make sense that a law would prevent a student who has the following; -good grades -good attendance -parents permission And -counselors permission (they have never given me permission to leave school early but gave me permission as my counselor to ask to drop the studyhall they enrolled me in) To leave the school a little early.
It might seem whiney but i help out a lot at home, work, and have my own personal things to do. School has never been an enjoyable place for me and it makes me angry that i have to stay. I feel as if im being punished for being a well rounded student.
I cannot find anywhere where this law is said. Other schools around us have been letting students leave for study hall.
If anyone knows of this law that would be amazing. Thank you.
