I find it ridiculous that teachers have to pay for supplies like crayons because the school can't afford it, but the same school funds multiple sports teams with stadiums gear and travel expenses for goddamn 10 year olds. How did we get here? How did we, as a group, come to decide that a select few being able to throw a ball was more important than everyone being able to fucking read?
At the end of the day ALL that sports bring to the table are entertainment. Whereas actual education is what the world is built on. And yet we value organized sports infinitely more than truly learning.
Will this mindset ever change? Or are we just destined to keep being dumber until it's a 100 years later and the only people knowledgeable enough to run critical infrastructure are immigrants because everyone who grew up here was denied an actual education in favor of sports?
