Best resources for going back to studying highschool subjects?

Hello! I am a working professional and I graduated high school about 8 years back. I want to brush up on some of the high school subjects just out of curiosity. Currently I want to study American Geography (I'm not an American or went to school in US). Can anyone refer me to what are some of the websites and any other online resources (free) I should look at for a crash course?

[Tech] Looking for a more industrial Presentation Remote Clicker

I hope this is the right place to ask (if not, please direct me where would be best).

We have about 50 or so classrooms, all with technology. The main issue we run into is we're always replacing the Presentation Remote Clicker in the room (power point is a mainstay for teaching). Either the receivers get taken (mistaken for usb storage drives) or the units itself get pocketed and forgotten about, and the instructors dont know what room they came from.

Unfortunately, the "clickers" we are using have two major flaws for more widespread use.

  1. They use AAA batteries which we are constantly replacing.
  2. The Receiver and Unit are tied to each other, so we cannot re-program a new receiver with an older unit (if one part goes missing, we have to replace the entire thing)

Is their such a Presentation Remote Clicker that is more suited for classroom use, to be used by multiple people, left in the room, rather than the individual "conference room" use ones that are generally available?

Preferably looking for one that features.

  • Rechargeable base station (that can be attached to a desk)
  • 50-60ft range
  • A unifying type receiver (that we can resync a clicker to a different receiver)
  • Durable enough to handle being used by multiple people 5 days a week.
  • Easy to use (for the instructor)

Any help would be appreciated.

A little more information about LPL Financial’s recent purchase of strategic education stock.

https://slatersentinel.com/news/2019/10/04/2895-shares-in-strategic-education-inc-nasdaqstra-purchased-by-lpl-financial-llc.html/amp

But there’s a reason. There’s a reason. There’s a reason for this, there’s a reason education SUCKS, and it’s the same reason it will never, ever, EVER be fixed.

It’s never going to get any better, don’t look for it, be happy with what you’ve got.

Because the owners, the owners of this country don't want that. I'm talking about the real owners now, the BIG owners! The Wealthy… the REAL owners! The big wealthy business interests that control things and make all the important decisions.

Forget the politicians. They are irrelevant. The politicians are put there to give you the idea that you have freedom of choice. You don't. You have no choice! You have OWNERS! They OWN YOU. They own everything. They own all the important land. They own and control the corporations. They’ve long since bought, and paid for the Senate, the Congress, the state houses, the city halls, they got the judges in their back pockets and they own all the big media companies, so they control just about all of the news and information you get to hear. They got you by the balls.

They spend billions of dollars every year lobbying, lobbying, to get what they want. Well, we know what they want. They want more for themselves and less for everybody else, but I'll tell you what they don’t want:

They don’t want a population of citizens capable of critical thinking. They don’t want well informed, well educated people capable of critical thinking. They’re not interested in that. That doesn’t help them. Thats against their interests.

Thats right. They don’t want people who are smart enough to sit around a kitchen table and think about how badly they’re getting fucked by a system that threw them overboard 30 fucking years ago. They don’t want that!

You know what they want? They want obedient workers. Obedient workers, people who are just smart enough to run the machines and do the paperwork. And just dumb enough to passively accept all these increasingly shitty jobs with the lower pay, the longer hours, the reduced benefits, the end of overtime and vanishing pension that disappears the minute you go to collect it, and now they’re coming for your Social Security money. They want your retirement money. They want it back so they can give it to their criminal friends on Wall Street, and you know something? They’ll get it. They’ll get it all from you sooner or later cause they own this fucking place! It's a big club, and you ain’t in it! You, and I, are not in the big club.

By the way, it's the same big club they use to beat you over the head with all day long when they tell you what to believe. All day long beating you over the head with their media telling you what to believe, what to think and what to buy. The table has tilted folks. The game is rigged and nobody seems to notice. Nobody seems to care! Good honest hard-working people; white collar, blue collar it doesn’t matter what color shirt you have on. Good honest hard-working people continue, these are people of modest means, continue to elect these rich cock suckers who don’t give a fuck about you….they don’t give a fuck about you… they don’t give a FUCK about you.

They don’t care about you at all… at all… AT ALL. And nobody seems to notice. Nobody seems to care. Thats what the owners count on. The fact that Americans will probably remain willfully ignorant of the big red, white and blue dick thats being jammed up their assholes everyday, because the owners of this country know the truth.

It's called the American Dream, because you have to be asleep to believe it.

American education is failing American students

A recent poll found that significant numbers of Americans, including a great many who had received a college degree or were in the process of obtaining one, simply don’t know much about American history. That poll revealed, variously, that about 85 percent of Americans weren’t aware that James Madison was the architect of the United States Constitution; that barely 10 percent of Americans know the 13th Amendment abolished slavery in the United States; that not even half of Americans can name the current Supreme Court justice; and that barely a third know that it is Congress’s prerogative to declare war.

But they can name ALL the Kardashians!

Doubtlessly this short survey barely scratches the surface. These are easy questions, the sort of thing you learn about in the first week of any basic American civics course. It is hard to imagine most Americans knowing anything at all substantive about our country’s history, people, institutions and traditions. If you think, as the respondents did, that the Emancipation Proclamation “freed all the slaves in the United States,” you’re getting a garbage education about the history of America.

The challenge is identifying the level of education at which this deficiency is occurring. Is it elementary school? Middle? High? One rather suspects it is all three, and that higher education bears a good bit of the blame as well. We should be teaching our students the basics of their country at every level of education. It need not be ideological or jingoistic; Americans are more than capable of making up their own minds on how they feel about our complex and difficult and inspiring historical record. But to short-change a generation of young people, graduating them with a bankrupt and garbage knowledge set about their own country, is not at all an appropriate solution.
