I need help advocating for my 6th grader with anxiety disorder

She already has an IEP based on low math scores, which are due to her anxiety for the most part. Her reaction to any form of homework is/has always been to have meltdowns and panic attacks. These will go on for hours and in the end she turns little or nothing in, so it is a complete waste of both her and my time. Her new teacher has been assigning her mounds and mounds of homework such as 20 page reports, tons of research on the Mayan Empire and reports on that too, spelling, and math. The result is that my daughter has become suicidal and depressed, which she has had a tendency towards since she was four. If my daughter's temperament and my money allowed it I would home school her, but frankly she needs to be around other kids/people and she is also very difficult to work with.
So my question is, how do I deal with the teacher and school since her IEP only specifies the fact that she scores low in math and requires less/easier homework. Do I need to get a new IEP drawn up so that it very specifically addresses her anxiety levels? I have a strong feeling that the new teacher has not even read her IEP.
