School English presentation by Christoffer. School, the place were we learn about revolutions that happend centuries ago, who discovered America, old cultures and old gods. All these things happend so many years ago but yet the theachers says that they are preparing us for the future?
So is the revolutions and the old cultures the future? Is there no Putin no Donald Trump or Kim Jong Un in the future? Is there no health problems or any deadly diseases in the future? Because if there is you aint telling us about the symptoms. How to prevent it.. you aint telling us about what happens to the world today.. Instead of learning us basic stuff like: Financial advise, how to search for a job, how to vote or what the thing is that is motivating the world to function like it is today, our humans rights, all the laws for the country we live in, trading stocks, how to pay taxes, how much it costs to raise a kid, what medicines we have to take when we are sick or how to help your friend if she or he is depressed. Instead of that we are learning about:
-Our eyes -The light -Algebra -Finding the rhythm of the music you are listening to -Advanced Norwegian -Advanced English -The first and the second world war -How norway was before we got a constitution -Basic chemistry -Oil and gas -Cells living inside your skin or cells living inside plants Now that was just a few of unpractical things that we learn about in school today. So may i ask you students, do you know your 30 human rights? I know the theacers dont because sometimes they aint letting us go to the toilets when there is class and that is breaking one of our rights. They say that we should do it when there is break so do they think that 350+ students are going to stay in a queue in the whole break to go to the toilets? Is there even time for that?
If we have problems with concentrating or if we do bad things in school the theacers usually blames the parents for not raising us correctly but if the school actually took their time to teach us about how to raise a kid then that is the problem solved? But no no no screw that. Instead we should learn mental math because you dont have a calculator on you everytime? Because you dont wear your phone always right? Well yes you are and you will always wear a phone on you and your phone has a calculator. And do they believe that we are gonna remember the subjects we learn? Do school think that they can make a decision of how much you know about a topic that you learnt for many weeks with a test? How many times havent you forgotten answers to the questions because you get really nervous? How many times havent you recived your test back only to see that you were some points from a higher grade? even if you knew the answers after the tests it wont count.. So when you search for a job with your grades and they say no because you dont have high enough grades for the job I want you to thank the school for letting you get tested like a robot with a test.. we are sitting in this classroom like robots we cant talk without raising our hands and we get forced to work otherwise the teachers rages and gives you a mark.
What do bus drivers learn in school that they will actually use in their job? Do you guys think I learnt all the things I can about computers in school? No I had to learn about that in my free time. So is the school system really helpful at all? Should it take 6 hours 5 days a week of your life? Do you students believe that your parents need to use algebra when they work? Because almost nobody needs that.. and it shouldnt be required to know.. Yes introduce those topics but let us choose, nobody should be forced to learn about things that isnt practically useful. Lets take an example. If your mom works as a chef then the only things that was useful for her in school was the basic stuff we learnt about in elementary school and food & health. So why should she waste her time on other subjects? Now i could have kept on for hours talking about how the school system is so so wrong but I will end it here.
