Can an average person in a western society accomplish anything in education with studying hard?

What i'm asking is... Can an average person in a western society become a professor at any field, become a doctor/engineer/pharmacist etc studying hard 60-70h/week long term?

I'm not looking for wishful thinking, just the truth.
