How do you study Human Sciences?

I've always been interested in Sciences in general, but always had more affinity with Natural Sciences. But recently, my inner and uncharted interest in Human Sciences has grown, but I found myself lost in how to exactly study these subjects.

I, as a Physics undergrad, have a way of studying that mainly consists in practicing the concepts and equations through exercises. However, I don't see this method being applicable in Human Sciences in general.

For example, I read The Prince by Machiavelli when I was in High School, but can't remember almost anything about it. I want now to study it as a Political Science student would in College. How could I do that?

Edit: Spelling.
