Please help me advise my friend who is a first generation college student

Alright, so this is a very rare case that I feel like I am in and I just need some guidance as far as what I should advise him to do.

So my friend is a first generation college student. He is still extremely dependant on his parents still and is 20 years old. He also has a ton of weird querks regarding how babied he has been, but that's beside the point. So our first year out of college he took a gap year and basically had pretty bad anxiety all year and quite literally did NOTHING all year. Basically all he did was wait for friends to come online after class and stuff. He would also cancel 100's of plans last second over the course of the year or two due to his anxiety. Long story short, eventually we got him to enroll in a local community college the next year and like we thought, his anxiety mostly has gone away. This is after a ton of help from our friend group as far as how to apply/afford/go to college because his parents know literally nothing. He did okay his first semester in his generals (like 2 B's and 2 C's or something), and showed interest that he wanted to transfer to the 4 year University that our friend group was in and wanted to room with us which was great (still going great, that's not the problem). He got admitted to the University. However, his 2nd semester he actually failed a couple of his classes. (And quite frankly he's really not that smart).

THIS IS WHERE THE QUESTION KINDA ACTUALLY BEGINS. Here are my worries. He doesn't really have the drive to do well in a lot of classes, and I'm afraid because of that he's gonna drop out of school with a ton of debt from a university that charges almost 30k a year, and it'll be my/our friend groups fault. On top of that, here's the kicker. He wants to major in theatre arts. And not like the BFA theatre arts, just the like general one. And yes, he is also well aware that that major probably won't get him far (honestly probably not pay his student debt either). However, after hours and hours of finding a different major with him we found majors like Communications and stuff and I thought we finally found a major for him, but when we were signing him up for classes he admitted that he really sucks at writing and reminded us that he failed out of his general writing courses. So honestly, at this point I really think the only major HE COULD graduate with is the theatre arts one. So maybe this is a situation of a $75,000 theatre arts degree is better than nothing/20k of debt? And mind you, he really is not that great at theatre. In the around 20-25 shows he's been in he's never really been a lead or anything, and he thinks is cause of the directors, and as I friend I agree with him, but as a person I know why.

I really need help advising my friend. Thanks
