Hello r/education. So here’s the situation, I have been teaching at my alma mater for five years now and the graduating class has asked me to give the keynote speech for their graduation. We all know that students have been having a hard time coping with not having the usual ceremonies and events as well as the fact that they will not be able to see their friends for the foreseeable future. I’d really like to make this speech memorable and exciting so I have a few things planned that I can do during a digital ceremony that I wouldn’t be able to do during an in person one. For example, I’m having two students that moved away surprise the class and jump in during my speech to congratulate them.
So as I was thinking of things to do I thought to myself “it’d be great to have a celebrity jump in as well and congratulate them too”. Which brings me here. I’m wondering if anyone out there has a celebrity connection or knows someone who would want to do this with me. I’m going to request that if you do know someone that you ask them first. I’m not looking to badger anyone or send them unsolicited messages. I imagine that would be very annoying to receive a message from a random person.
Our school is really small, the graduating class is 15 kids, and there isn’t much we can do for them as an institution so if you can help me give them an experience they will never forget, I’d really appreciate it.
