What are something's that if you didn't know you would feel embarrassed

I have the idea to make a sort of instructional recap video or website on basic information that people should know off the top of their head. The US is often given a bad rap because many of the people don't seem to know basic information such as how their government functions and basic geography of their country and the world. It was this criticism of the US that provoked me with the idea to try and make a resource that sort of recaps or reteaches basic information that everyone should know. We live in the age of information where any answer is at our finger tips but I think it is unhealthy to use that as an excuse to not know basic information.

In order to do this I have come up with a criteria for what information is, for lack of a better word, "essential". The criteria stemmed from me asking myself "If I didn't know this off the top of my head would I be embarrassed?" For example, if I were to ask you to tell me "exactly how many sandstone blocks is the great pyramid made from?" Whether or not you know the answer, if ask you "would you be embarrassed if you didn't know that" your answer would probably be no. Of course you wouldn't, you shouldn't be. But if I ask you to point out where Australia is on a map and you don't know... would you be embarrassed? I know I would be.

I realize this is subject to debate but I am trying to look for basic information like this to include in my video. What are your suggestions?
