Making senior year feel special for class of 2021

I teach STEM courses to 11th and 12th graders in the United States and my district has announced that we will be entirely online/remote learning at least until November-- I anticipate this extending until the end of 2020. There will undoubtedly be a lot of disappointment from the class of 2021 about their senior year occurring in such a manner, as well as many valid anxieties about what the future holds for them. My wonderings are...

  1. How can we effectively celebrate the senior class and make senior year feel "special" in a remote learning environment? What would that look like?
  2. How can we balance the desire to celebrate their accomplishments with the realities of the uncertain world into which they will be graduating in the spring? Certainly we want to be hopeful yet transparent in order to best prepare our awesome young humans.
