UK further education at age 18 without qualifications?

I would love to join a class doing a subject I love, though my A-levels and GCSEs don't really correspond with said subject. My dad has told me that apparently there are colleges I don't need qualifications for, and that I can pay money to join a class (though I doubt the validity of this). Overall I'm just very confused and I need someone's advice on this.
