Are there any contemporary researchers or theorists in education who argue against student-centered instruction that are reputable?

I am currently conducting applied research for the final step to completing my masters degree. Without going into too many details of my research, it centers on student engagement. I am having a hard time finding reputable sources that refute student centered instruction(for good reason in my opinion) but was curious if there were any good resources out there?
