I don’t know if this post is gonna make me seem like a bitch or what, but I kinda just need to vent.
I’m a HS Freshman with Ehlers Danlos and Chronic Fatigue, as well as possible sleep apnea (currently getting tested), all of which have contributed to difficulty catching up on sleep and getting ready in the morning. Pretty much every day since the start of middle school, I’ve ended up running late by very small time frames. I was only able to mitigate this in the 8th grade by taking Jazz Band as a 0 period, but that is no longer an option.
Now, in HS, I have been sentenced with my second instance of Saturday school, with over 24 “tardies”. I even talked to the nurse about my issues, and I was given a slip for 5 extra minutes to get to class, but it only applies in between periods which has literally never fucking helped.
I want to emphasize that I do care about school, as I am in one of the best ones around, and am on an Inter-district Transfer. I am simply physically incapable of arriving on time.
I know I’m not alone in thinking that SS is completely unfair to students, considering the copious amounts of time already in school, but I just want to vent, and see what Reddit thinks.
