Currently, I'm working on an academic paper about the changes of historical narratives in high school history textbooks from the Deep South. I'm asking the following questions:
How did high school history education and its representation of the African American experience (from antebellum until reconstruction) in the Deep South change in the last four decades? How much has the (mis)representation of slavery changed and where is still progress to be made?
I have a lot of contemporary textbooks as primary sources, but I'm missing older ones, especially from Alabama, Louisiana, and Mississippi.
If somebody has some lying around that they were taught with in high school, I would highly appreciate scans, photos, or PDFs. Or if somebody knows, where I could find these books, other than buying them from eBay, that'd be great information, too!
