I'm currently in an education-focused program at my university, and am considering doing my final project on the role of property taxes in financing the US public education system. I've definitely been able to find a lot of relevant/recent news articles, and quite a few academic journal articles from the 80s/90s/early 2000s, but I'm more specifically looking for resources that explain the historical context of how these tax policies originally came about + research on their contemporary impact.
If anyone has any book recommendations on this topic, I'd greatly appreciate it!
